Ultra-Slim Design, Industry-Leading Durability, and Flagship Cameras Make It a Premium Contender — But U.S. Buyers Face Limited Options
By Ethan Brooks March 22, 2026
BARCELONA — Honor has raised the bar once again in the foldable smartphone category with the official launch of the Honor Magic V6 at MWC 2026. Billed as the thinnest book-style foldable yet, the device measures just 8.75mm when folded (in the striking Snow White variant) while packing the largest battery ever seen in a foldable, the latest Snapdragon flagship chipset, and groundbreaking durability.
Unveiled on March 1, 2026, the Magic V6 continues Honor’s aggressive push to lead the premium foldable segment with a focus on real-world usability, refined engineering, and AI-enhanced features.
Record-Breaking Thinness and Build
The Magic V6 achieves its slim profile through advanced hinge technology and optimized materials. In the white variant, it measures 8.75mm folded and an astonishing 4.0mm unfolded (excluding the camera bump). Other colors — Black, Gold, and Red — are slightly thicker at 9.0mm folded and 4.1mm unfolded.
Despite the ultra-thin design, the phone weighs a manageable 219g (white) or 224g (other colors). Honor claims near-crease-less folding thanks to improved screen layering and a stronger hinge that also enhances drop resistance.
Massive Battery and Blazing Performance
One of the standout features is the 6,660mAh silicon-carbon battery (global version), a significant upgrade from the Magic V5. A China-exclusive variant pushes this even higher with over 7,000mAh thanks to CATL technology. Charging speeds reach 80W wired and 66W wireless, ensuring the phone can go all day — and then some — even with heavy multitasking or video streaming.
Powering the device is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, making the Magic V6 the world’s first foldable to feature this next-gen chipset. Configurations include up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage, delivering smooth performance for gaming, AI tasks, and multitasking across the large inner display.
Durability Milestone: First Foldable with IP69 Rating
In a major first for any foldable phone, the Honor Magic V6 earns an IP69 rating (alongside IP68), making it highly resistant to dust, high-pressure water jets, and extreme conditions. This level of protection sets it apart from rivals like Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold series and positions it as one of the most rugged premium foldables available.
Displays and Cameras
- Inner Display: 7.95-inch LTPO OLED with up to 120Hz refresh rate, high resolution, and anti-reflective coating for excellent outdoor visibility.
- Outer Display: Expanded 6.52-inch cover screen, also 120Hz, making single-handed use more practical.
The camera system remains a strong point with a triple rear setup featuring a 50MP main sensor, 64MP periscope telephoto, and 50MP ultra-wide. Front cameras are dual for better video calls and selfies. Honor’s AI enhancements promise improved computational photography, including better low-light performance and natural portrait modes.
Expert Take: Impressive Hardware, But Availability Remains a Hurdle
The Magic V6 represents Honor’s continued mastery of thin-and-light foldable engineering. By combining record thinness, the biggest battery in the class, cutting-edge performance, and class-leading durability (IP69), it directly challenges Samsung’s dominance while preparing for potential Apple foldable competition later this year.
Early hands-on impressions praise the premium in-hand feel, vibrant displays with minimal crease, and all-day battery endurance. For users prioritizing slim design and real-world toughness, it looks like one of the strongest foldables of 2026.
However, a familiar caveat applies: limited or no official U.S. availability due to ongoing brand restrictions stemming from Honor’s Huawei heritage. The phone launched first in China (sales began mid-March) and is slated for select global markets in the second half of 2026 (likely Europe, Asia, and other regions). U.S. consumers may need to rely on imports or gray-market options, which can complicate warranty and software support.
Pricing has not been officially confirmed for all markets but is expected to sit in the premium $1,800–$2,300 range depending on configuration and region.
VFuture Media will track international rollout details, full review units, and any potential workarounds for broader availability as the year progresses.
